She worked with AOL Time Warner from 2007-2010. As a photo editor at AOL she handled their photography website- Pixcetera.com and managed photo teams for AOL’s entertainment and lifestyle websites. She has been freelancing since.

Jyothy Karat is the recipient of a grant from the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and World Press Photo for the Diploma in Multimedia Journalism program 2012 at the Asian Center for Journalism, Ateneo de Manila University, Phillipines. You can view some of her videos here.

In 2009, she was selected for the Angkor Photo Workshop in Siem Reap, Cambodia as one of the 29 emerging photographers from Asia.

Jyothy started her journey in photography at the Light & Life Academy in 2006; the premiere institute of photography in India, nestled in the valley of the beautiful Nilgiris.

On assignment, Jyothy has traveled and reported from Cambodia, Spain, Austria, Ireland, France, Maldives, Mauritius, Switzerland and Bhutan to name a few.

She works regularly for The Indian Express, Lonely Planet Magazine and Forbes. Jyothy has been commissioned by Time, Financial Times, The Economist, Le Monde, Fortune, Accenture, Accor, Dagens Arbete, International Water Management Institute (IWMI) and Greenpeace. She has been published in The Independant, The Sunday Guardian, AOL and Yedioth Achronoth.
